The San are much shorter than the average man today. The average height of an adult is approximately 1,5m. They probably originated on the north coast of Africa. Evidence suggests they are one of the oldest, if not the oldest, peoples in the world - a "genetic Adam" according to Spencer Wells, from which all humans can ultimately race heir enetic eritage. RIDOUT VERSION OF HUNTERS Our consultants. Trained initially in the art of research (gathering) for at least a year before venturing into the wilderness to perform the act of hunting. We place emphasis on the fact that our consultants first need to know where to hunt before embarking on the actual capture. Trained in the art of interviewing and getting to understand a clients unique tribal habits (corporate culture), the Hunter will with precision brief the gatherer so as to understand where and what to hunt. RIDOUT VERSION OF GATHERERS Our researchers. Understanding both the nature of the prey and the landscape (industry sectors) gatherers are trained in the art of corporate intelligence gathering before starting to locate talent. The art of finding the prey is of great importance, almost as important as the act of hunting itself. The tribe will need to work quickly and efficiently to ensure success. Gatherers will need to be able to use basic gathering tools such as BFA McGregors and our online research tool Recruitment Buddy. With over 5000 search assignments on Recruitment Buddy our gatherers have all the necessary support to ensure a successful hunt. WE ARE HUNTER GATHERERS The San people are known as very precise hunters and gathers. With limited resources in a harsh environment the San hunter will need to locate and kill its prey. As head hunters, like the San people, we also need to be precise in our hunting skills. Our brief from the client will determine our precision and like the San we focus on a very small pool of unique skills to ultimately find our number one candidate. The gatherer will need to provide the hunter with vital information to save time and ensure an accurate hunt. SMALL TEAMS - BIG RESULTS The San people are known for their ability to survive in small groups. Working together to ensure they survive the harsh conditions of the wilderness they inhabit. Our consultants and researchers also work together in small focused teams ensuring that our clients get the best talent on offer from the market place. Even though we are fewer than thirty nationally, we remain one of the largest and most formidable search firms in South Africa today. SELLING YOUR BRAND Our vernacular is unique to our search industry and focuses mainly on interpreting our clients' needs and communicating these talent requirements internally to our teams of hunters and gatherers. We speak about desk research and long lists - all search talk that in practice means we provide our clients with a value for money service. We protect our clients confidentiality and respect the fact that we have placed talent with that client. Our hands-off policy precludes The Ridout Group from hunting any talent we have placed or entering that territory again. COMPETITIVE PRICE AND SPEED - SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST Operating in a niche market we are focused on providing our clients with realistic consulting fees and timelines. As we focus on hunting talent from the scarce middle management to executive pool our fees have a measure of flexibility. The focus for us is on results and hard work, no quick fixes and immediate solutions. Our average assignment timeline is approximately two weeks for a middle or senior role and four weeks for an executive role.
